The 'Takeaway' series of housing is the result of a collaboration between builder and architect. The bond between Gabriel Poole of Gabriel and Elizabeth Poole Design Company and Jim Margach of Gateway Manufacture started with the commissioning of Jim's services for a spectacular, tri-level home located in Trinity Beach, Cairns, on a difficult sloping site, overlooking the sunny beach.

The need for a transportable building system arose when Jim sought Gabriel's design skills for an off shore project. This led to the development of a system that can be completely pre-built in a factory and then containerised for transport.

Gabriel was born and educated in south-east Queensland. Most of his career has been on the Sunshine Coast designing innovative dwellings. Gabriel leans strongly toward innovation in his architecture and implementation of better building systems. However, the buildings too may be tailored to the individual requirements of clients with particular care being taken to preserve sites and to design to the requirements of climate. For most of his career this has resulted in light weight architecture. Gabriel has received many awards including the most prestigious RAIA Gold Medal for his lifetime contribution to Australian Architecture.

Gateway Manufacture is a family run firm. Managing Director Jim Margach is a Cairns man born and bred with over thirty years experience in the building trade. Jim himself personally supervises all projects to check quality control and ensure that each and every job meets his own exacting standards. Jim has also received several accolades in the building industry both locally and nationally.
